This Isn't Over!

I’m just stopping by to say hi! This isn’t over.

This is Robocop signing on after a year or so (you do the math) of no-show darkness.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and maybe I can try to make this a weekly thing. Who knows? I’m actually just writing this to see how it goes the first time around, and if the post doesn’t suck and I am able to get some emotional release, laughs, or some small wisdom nuggets from writing my inner self onto paper, I’ll continue!

So hello, hello to our small world of subscribers! It’s been months, if not a year, since my last update, and things have been up and down all around. I’m wiser in my approach to life and its uncertainties, but I still have so much more room to grow and so many more challenges to revisit at school and abroad.

I’ve gotten wiser from being stupid in the same way over and over again, and being stupid and stubborn seems to be my default, so shifting my train of thought from negativity over to productivity has been extremely difficult, but an eye-opening experience.  This is summing it up deceivingly neatly.

It’s been a little bit more hellish than suggested by the light, shiny post I’m throwing up right now. Maybe, I’ll delve more into that later when I’m feeling up for pouring my heart out, but for now, this suffices. Later, gators.

Pooper Scooper

Muffinman says that depressing posts are a part of collective energy of an honest blog, so here goes nothing.

At what point do a certain set of thoughts become your identity? And it doesn't have to be thoughts, it could also include habits. A collection of habits and recurring thoughts feed into a cycle of existence (at least for me).

So when did my thoughts and behaviors lead to the personality and lifestyle that I have today? How did I get here? This is a question I ask myself a lot as I look up at the night sky on a night much like this one.

Somewhere along the line, I let the negative, critical, and perfectionist mentality that fed so much of my earlier success tear apart so much of what I should have kept sacred and fiercely protected. I guess an easy two word expression for that would be  "my confidence". Confidence is way over-hyped nowadays, so I'll use something that may border on the spiritual and lend it more weight -- "faith". Turning my critical eye inward from doing well in school to my identity and personality has left me somewhat devastated. I have good and bad days like everybody, but the intensity of my bad days are far from normal in that they are likely to leave me feeling hopeless and seeking isolation from everybody. The problem was from the very beginning that my inner critic was always rewarded when it came to things that warranted a grade; I could focus hard enough to get the desired result, and there seemed to be no downside to this approach other than a few sleepless nights.

When I shifted my focus to more introspective pursuits, the circumstances were not the same. Picking apart who you are, why you do things, and why you can't constantly be the "best" (whatever that means to you or meant to me) in every social situation leads to an insane deconstruction of who you are, and this may eventually (although rather slowly and painfully) lead you to some truth about your identity. Or it could end up wearing you down. I think that is what has happened to me, and I may be more confused about who I am than when I started this journey.

My mind now seems plagued with ridiculous notions, fears, and insecurities about everyday living, and they've only been amplified by my insane, seething quest for some uncovering of who I am supposed to be and what the world should get from my living. I feel trapped by the thoughts I can't seem to shake and run away from.

So, how do I move forward? There are a lot of days when I attempt to answer this question, and I grasp for straws--more things that can sustain my desperate mind. Sincerely though, I have no idea. I think the secret at this point may just be to soldier on and have faith that any newfound positivity wherever it may come from is something that I must absolutely incorporate into the new "self" that I am building in the wake of my self-imposed deconstruction. Basically.. stop thinking so much. And just live?

What a concept.

Robocop's Email

After some consideration, Emoinacloset and I (Muffinman) decided it is best to publish Robocop's email explaining his whereabouts. We have been sitting on this for awhile and we feel that his friends who care and worry about him deserve to know that he is still alive.

I owe both of you a long overdue explanation for everything that has been going on with me that you guys have not been privy to. First and foremost, the house that you both love driving to in order to draw me out of social isolation has been sold. Yes, my family and I are moving to Saratoga. It was my dad's decision to move to Saratoga.

I can't come up with a better excuse for not telling you guys in advance during our chatroom or video chat sessions other than the fact that I forgot to tell you guys. It is not that I forgot to tell just you guys, but I forgot to tell everyone. Jessica Kim, Jennie, Derek, Jennet, and Jessica Liu do not have any idea. The reason I believe that news of this magnitude has slipped my mind is that I have something even bigger on my minds: I have taken another leave from MIT. I have made this decision with the intention of finding out who I am (once again). I'll explain more once I figure out more, but in the meantime, try to be patient.

I am currently in Mississippi with my cousin and her husband. I needed somewhere else to think, and I didn't want to sit at home in California where I know I will get lazy and comfortable. As for communication between now and when I get back, there won't be any. I don't have my phone with me, because I want to be isolated as much as possible during this time. I'll see you guys when I get back. I'll explain more when I get back.

Peace,
Robocop

Ringing in the New Year

Hey guys,
.
Long time no... write?

Anyway, 2009 has been interesting- interesting in the sense that this year has been a host to my gap year.

I thought I would just write about a few things I am thankful for; some of these are obvious cliches, but I mean them nevertheless.

(These aren't in any particular order except for the first two)

1) My family.
Haha yeah, I saw that one coming from a mile away too. This year, though, has brought me a lot closer to my family. I don't think I have ever been this close to them at any point in time, and I am grateful that this gap year gave me the opportunity of developing a deeper bond with those who are and will be there for me no matter what the circumstance.

2) Friends that bitch and whine about how hard it is to reach me.
I guess that's a bit too strong. Let me elaborate.

For those of you that know me even a little, it is supernaturally difficult to get in touch with me unless you are the persevering type (*cough* muffinman... *cough* emoinacloset). The difficulty arises from the fact that where many find picking up their cell and phoning a friend easy, I find fantastically difficult.

Wait no, let me rephrase that. The thought to reconnect with them really never crosses my mind. Of course, this sounds terrible, but circling back to the heart of the matter, I am grateful for he friends that have slapped (or as muffin loves to say, "beat the shit out of") some sense into me and have put me back on course to reestablishing weakened bonds. Muffin... I like the sound of that.

I'm also thankful for the friends that have stuck by me during my pathetic, little phase. I use past tense, because I feel like I'm out of the woods now. It's almost like I know what a true friendship is all about. *tear* Make friends, and then, try to keep them. A truly novel idea. Genius, really.

3) My balls.
You thought that Jesus was going to be #3 didn't you?

I do have some shame in admitting that during most of my teenage years, I invested a lot of time, with no beneficial return, into the internet-especially, Youtube.

Now after watching about three dozen videos that involve the idiotic, but oh-so-hilarious injuries to a great number of people's balls all across the world, I am so grateful that mine are still intact and going 19 years strong. I love you guys.

4) Oh right, MIT.
MIT is an institution that likens the education that it provides to drinking water from a fire hose. Now having taken a gap year and still being a freshman undergraduate, I admit that I am thoroughly scared shitless of what goes on behind the scenes of it all- the late-night cries of pain and agony over unfinished problem sets, the early-morning cries of pain and agony over unfinished problem sets, and then my favorite: "fuck it all, I am going to sleep".

However, MIT is at the forefront of science and technology. Science is where my head is at, and I am so lucky to be given the chance to go learn from the best of the best.

So to those responsible for my admission to MIT, I thank you with all my heart. And here's hoping that in a few decades, my admission officers will be the thanking me for going to MIT (probably because I will have cured AIDs, cancer, and male-pattern baldness) and bringing their institution even more fame and honor.

Lol.. bullshit!

5) Pain. Heartbreak. yada yada yada..
If we didn't have pain, I doubt we would know what happiness was. If we didn't have heartbreak, I'm not sure if we would feel lucky when we actually met that special someone.

When one door closes, another opens, right? I guess, pain would be the long ass hallways, the lack of sufficient lighting, and all the chairs and tables we bump into along the way. But fuck aren't we happy when we finally feel that door knob? We've become masters of our pain, and pain has become our guide into the future.

I'll add more if I think of them tonight.

Happy New Year everyone!

We are one year closer to the end of mankind!

Cheers,
Robocop

Who am I kidding?

The title pretty much sums it up!

I am kidding myself if I think I am going to update this blog anytime soon. My heart is just not in it. =/

Therefore, I thought I'd write a quick message saying that from now on, Robocop will be a reader.

Hopefully, I'll be more committed as a commenter than a blogger.

Ciao,

Update

Hey all!

I was sitting at home, bored with nothing to do, so I thought I'd update ya'll on what's been going on with me.

The video blog idea didn't pan out. I downloaded some new software, but as it turns out, it is super awkward to yell into my webcam while I'm alone in my room.

Anyway, after all of my friends left for college, I was stuck at home alone with nothing else to do except go to school. It was then that I decided I simply had to get a job.

I started going to grocery stores, video stores, restaurants, fast food chains, pharmacies, and etc, asking for applications. The good news is that I got applications from every establishment I went to! The bad news is that no one is fucking hiring!

I did my best and sent out resumes and job applications to every corporation and mom&pop store I could think of, but while I waited for job offers, I decided to hunt for internships as well.

Luckily enough, all internships are geared towards either high school students or college uppperclassmen. A freshman undergraduate student, I was stuck right in between. I was starting to feeling really good about this "job thing."

Feeling defeated, I reluctantly went on Volunteermatch.org

I was searching for a part-time volunteer position, hoping that not only would it be part-time, but also temporary for a company would offer me a job! Or so I hoped.

I replied to several postings, getting responses back from almost all of them within a matter of minutes. Were these guys desperate for volunteers or what? I replied back, setting up possible interview/orientation times, and I was all set.

What I didn't realize was that The Rebuilding Alliance, one of the organizations I contacted for the "Data-Entry Assistant Volunteer" position, is helmed by an MIT alumna, who graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After the orientation, I told her that I would be interested in working on other projects after I finished what I originally signed up to do.

After I was done entering data, I got assigned to the legal research team as an intern! (what the random?! A science guy like me, a legal research intern?)

-----------------------
Some background info on The Rebuilding Alliance...
The Rebuilding Alliance (TRA) helps rebuild war torn communities in Israel. More specifically, TRA works to rebuild Palestinian homes that were demolished by the IDF and also takes on human rights cases, one of which I have been assigned to work on under an attorney.
---------------------------

My job is to pretty much work with an attorney, the head of our research team, and figure out pertinent information we can use to possibly win the case. In recent news, President Carter, himself, has expressed interest in becoming personally involved with the case!! Ka-ching!

This is just one aspect of my life at the moment. I'll try to update you guys on more things later on.

Cheers,
Robocop

p.s. Hope all is well on your end.

Fuck..

you guys. Stop blogging for and about me.

Anyway, muffinman has got some of it right.

I'll try to update you guys whenever I can.

Nevermind

I was going to write a post, because emoinacloset and muffinman have been trying to force me out of my warm hermit hole (screw you, it's almost winter) since forever.

However, I realized that I could just shoot a video and upload that instead. It would take 10 seconds.

So, I'll be doing that sometime soon. I tried to shoot a video yesterday with Pinnacle Studio 12, but jesus.. my computer just will not run Pinnacle Studio faster than a snail's pace.

I'm going to download some other software.

-Robocop

p.s. Many of you are probably thinking, "Yeah, he says he's going to upload a video, but we probably won't see it for another thousand years. Lazy dumbass."

Well, you bitches are absolutely CORRECT!
See you in the afterlife.

I'm trying to catch up!

In case we get a book deal and the number of entries we write determine our pay cut, I am going to try to catch up to emoinacloset. Rawr! Here we go!!

Goals!

1) Get buff.
I suppose losing weight would go hand in hand with getting buff.

2) Try to grow something that looks like a beard.
I've always had kind of a weirdly hairy face. I mean guys usually get peach fuzz on the upper lip during puberty. Ya shave it off, and it come backs a little stubbly. Ya shave it off again, and it comes back more stubbly, and so on and so forth. I, on the other hand, got peach fuzz on my cheeks. It's very light, so you can't see it, but it is there.

I got really bored this past week, and I decided to start an experiment. I shaved off all my peach fuzz and waited for it to start growing back. A couple days later, upon caressing my cheeks multiple times, I felt some stubble. Give it four months of shaving, growing, and shaving again, and I might have myself a man-beard before I go back to college!

If I end up not finding myself by the end of my year off, at least I'll have a beard.

Sometimes, I sit at my desk and flex my face muscles. Wouldn't it be cool if my beard just started growing like a Playdoh spaghetti toy?

3) Pick up a sport.
I had to quit tennis years ago, because I have this thing called Trigger Finger Syndrome although many people have corrected me and said it was actually Carpel Tunnel. These "many people" are not doctors, mind you, so I still think it's Trigger Finger syndrome. Apparently, I gripped my racket handle very tightly during play, so I jacked my fingers up for life. My fingers are fine when I don't grip a racket, but the doctor said that if I continue to play tennis, I might lose full functionality of my fingers, and that's no fun.

So, tennis is out the window. Any suggestions?

4) Popping!
I've really wanted to pick up popping for a while now--5 years to be exact. I watch popping videos obsessively, but I haven't really been able to find good tutorials online, and I don't have a place to practice that has a big enough mirror.

I did try going to this one place over the summer. It got the best reviews on Yelp, and a lot of people said that the place was really receptive to beginners, so I went with my head held high.

The first day I went was the day I realized that I was totally out of place in the popping world. Of course, I'm speaking strictly about fashion. I showed up in my "let's get down and dirty" clothes, which happened to be my basketball shorts and tennis club shirt that day. Holy shit, did I get a lot of stares from people decked out in all that was "fresh and fly." I did my best to try to make nice with everyone, but it felt like they had me pegged as the "ugly duckling" as soon as they saw my tennis-playing ass step over the threshold.

Even after about three more sessions, I just felt too uncomfortable and too out there to continue. Yeah, I basically chickened out. I still want to learn though! I just don't want to have to be the huge elephant in the room TWICE (they have a huge mirror in there, and I am once again reminded of how ridiculous I look) while I do it.

Popping probably should have been at the top of this list.

5) I got the desperation bug.
Yeah, it's true. Some of muffinman's desperation has seemed to rub off on me as well. I'm starting to like girls that I normally wouldn't like. I've been without a relationship since college. It's been too long.

I don't really know how to get over this one, but I will try!

6) And last but not least, find myself. But yeah, what the hell does that mean?

It's been a while!

Hey there.
I know I haven't written anything in a while, but, in my defense, there really was nothing to write about. I don't really live next to a financial district; I live close to a Bank of America. I don't bake banana cream pies for fun either; I eat store-bought, already-made-for-you food for fun.

For the past few weeks, I have been going to classes, attempting to do homework, and spending the little time I had left with my buds and budettes. Boy, I have to tell you though that it wasn't a picnic, watching my friends leave for college.

I felt sad and happy at the same time. I was happy because I would gain a little bit more time for myself, which isn't to say that my friends were a distraction. I'm sure you guys understand. You set a schedule, your friends call you up to hang out, and you say to hell with it and go hang out. There would be no reason to do that now that they were leaving. I would have time to do some reflecting, exploring, and more reflecting.

On the other hand, I felt terribly sad. I was going to miss their company, and more importantly, I was going to feel left behind. The summer was a lot of fun, and we definitely did some pretty cool shit this summer. One of the many not cool shit I managed to do this summer was convincing myself that my circumstances were normal with respect to everyone else's. I managed to convince myself that I was here for the summer like everyone else and wasn't any different. When it came time for my friends to leave, it hit me: I am not normal. I am taking a year off!

Of course I knew that. I knew it all along. I guess somewhere along the line I slowly began to give up on what I had set out to do. I really didn't know where to start, and all my reflecting seemed to wind up in viciously confusing circles that offered no solution. I started to depend on my friends as an escape from my problems, and when they left, I didn't have that escape anymore. Now, when I don't feel like thinking, I can't just hang out with my friends. I have to deal with my issues.

Haha, this sounds pretty bad, seeing as how I should have had this mentality to begin with. I was definitely scared to begin with, and I am not afraid to admit that this fear hasn't diminished. It is still very much alive in me today as it was the day I landed on West Coast soil.

I'm feeling about a thousand more subtle emotions that I can't really describe, but what a mind freak!! (just watched Criss Angel xP )

I am definitely going to miss you guys and girls. You know who you are.

Oh, I rewatched a part of The Last Samurai today and was really moved by something one of the characters said.

Higen: Will you fight the white men, too?
Captain Algren: Yes.
Higen: Why?
Captain Algren: Because they come to destroy what I have come to love.

If you don't remember, watch it. I teared up, but I also felt like kicking some white people ass!

Happily ever after?

Man, for the past few days, I have been watching so many movies. Most of them (well, all of them) have been chick flicks.

I don't know what's wrong with me, but for some reason, I can't get enough of them. It's so I can share slightly gay things like this that we have nicknames. I've watched A Walk to Remember (one of my all-time favorites), Definitely, Maybe, Failure to Launch, The Notebook, He's Just Not That Into You, The Holiday, and Mean Girls.

Holy crap, right? But I'm not going to lie to anyone of our followers (yes... all 8 of you), I enjoy chick flicks. I thoroughly enjoy chick flicks. I think they are sweet, endearing, and a great emotional roller coaster ride. And for some, it turns on the waterworks too. I think chick flicks is my favorite genre of movies (and yes, that is actually the name of the genre)!

As great as chick flicks are, I always notice something that is a bit unsettling every time I watch these movies: they all end with happily ever after, save for A Walk to Remember (unless you think the death of a girlfriend leading to a guy's beautiful transformation into a better human being is a good ending.. pff.. talk about overrated).

I mean, every chick flick that I watch fits one of three molds.
Mold 1: Boy meets girl. Boy is seemingly, completely incompatible with this girl. They fight and argue all the time and can never seem to find a common ground, but this fighting fuels their lust and subsequent love for each other, and of course, "happily ever after."
Mold 2: Boy meets girl. Boy is obviously compatible with the girl, but the girl unfortunately doesn't take notice, because she is too busy ogling at this Brad Pitt-of-a-guy. But, of course, in the end, she takes notice of the boy who she made the mistake of ignoring. And yes, "happily ever after."
Mold 3 (or as I like to call it, the Disney mold): Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl falls in love with boy. They kiss, may have sex, and live "happily ever after."

*There are variations of each one, but you get what I mean.

The common theme between these molds is that the boy and the girl end up with each other, even if one of them decides to get cancer and die at the end.

I know these are just movies, but one can't help but wonder if there is one person out there for everyone. An even simpler thought would be whether or not everyone is capable of finding true love with another person. Does everybody have a soul mate, or are there just a group of people that you're really compatible with, and you marry the first person with whom everything works out? I know the latter sounds soo romantic, but seriously, who knows?

I guess I personally don't believe in soul mates. I'm not proud of it. I honestly like the first option better, but being one of those dream-popping realists of the scientific era of humanity, I can't help but NOT believe in soul mates.

I mean, come on, there are like 4 billion people in the world, 303 million in the US, 19 million in New York, and 8 million in New York City and you are telling me that, out of those numbers, you can't find at least a dozen of people who you would be attracted to and perfectly compatible with. I mean, DNA is different from person to person, but how different do personalities get? How different can the 4 billion people in the world be from one another.

I just believe that you may meet people that are more suited for you than others, but I don't believe in there being one perfect person for everyone. Yeah, I'm a romantic.

And is everyone capable of finding love? I believe so. There's really nothing explain there.

For the few of you that not only "follow," but also READ our blog, what do you think?

Man, I cannot wait until we have a gajillion followers, so we can get more than a couple comments.

Don't you guys worry about that though. Muffinman and I recently visited Best Buy to look at some laptops, and I changed the homepage on one of the computers from bestbuy.com to our blog page to help get the word out on our awesome blog. You guys can help too!

Duality

“Jesus.. look at emoinacloset go. It’s just one entry after another with this guy. Better write another one.”

And with that thought, I write this blog entry. Not really inspired by anything other than my wanting to keep up with emoinacloset. He really makes the rest of us look like douches.

Well, I’ve recently started classes at a state university. MIT recommended that I take some classes before I go back in order to help make adjusting to the crazy-ass, “holy shit”, nocturnal lifestyle just a little bit easier. (If you haven’t read my previous entry, I decided to take a year off from college about half a year ago.)

And let me just start out by saying. Holy crap.. does the state of California suck right now. California, as many of you know, is experiencing somewhat of a budget crisis and what many of you do not know is that it has retracted 44 million dollars in funding from the state university that I am currently attending. This has appropriately resulted in pay cuts for all faculty members and an increase in tuition fees for all students. On top of that, they’ve decreased the class sizes, because teachers aren’t willing to teach more for cut in pay. Of course, there are a few teachers(God bless them), who are more than willing to take on more students, but the majority are doing what I would’ve done in the same situation. I would’ve said, “Fuck this. I’m not grading more papers for less money.”

On top of that, I’m not even a regularly enrolled student. As a non-matriculated student, I can’t register for classes beforehand. I have to show up on the first day of class, and if there is space (which there never is), I can add (which never happens). If I stupidly decide to stay and waste my time, I get put on this beautiful “waitlist.” I am, of course, put at the bottom, because I am last priority.

The shittiness (aka the beginning of fall semester) began the Monday of last week. I must have gone to 7-9 classes per day, desperately trying to add a class. I managed to salvage 2 classes from the wreckage that was the budget crisis, and I’m still attending classes with hopes that I’ll be added.

My blog entries just get happier and happier, don’t they?

But, never fear! Hot girls are here!

Despite the 44 million dollar shortfall, there just does not seem to be a scarcity of good-looking women at this university. Yes sir, tits and ass are always in surplus. And yes, these two things are what have pulled me through the dark times.

It is stuff like this that reminds me that our universe is a balanced one. Light and dark. Good and evil. Hot girls and budget cuts.

After storming out of a class in which I am #20 on the waitlist, I just take one look down the hall at some beautiful, smoking hot Asian chick, and all is good again.

Thank goodness for the 10’s out there and thank goodness for the creation of restraining orders for the 5’s like me who ogle at the 10’s.

Something Missing

Robocop here. I'm actually feeling like getting my thoughts out, so I thought I'd put this feeling to good use

Let me just preface this by saying that I'm not a natural writer, so naturally, I've been having trouble finding my own voice for my blog entries. I think I'll be playing around with different voices for the first several entries and find my center that way. I know my first entry sounded melodramatic as hell, and I promise... I'll try to tone it down for this one.

So, you know why my name is Robocop, but I guess you really don't know anything about me yet. Well as it turns out, I don't either. I guess you could say I'm on that ultimate quest to find myself. Some call it the journey to enlightenment. Others call it the path to Jesus. People from all walks of life have pegged different names to it, and that I'm totally okay with because I'm not particularly religious.
SIDEBAR: Let's just NOT start a flame war about what religion I should subscribe to. This isn't Youtube.

I've actually taken a year off for this journey of mine and thought it'd be fun to log my feelings, perceptions, and hopefully-soon-to-come epiphanies. So.. let me fill you in.

guess it started during the latter parts of the senior year of high school. If you are anywhere around my age (yeah.. you're going to have to guess), you know what it's like.

You're just a couple of chores, assignments, and long, boring days of class away from the party life! Smirnoff here I come! You're just inching to get that dog collar you call your parents' authority off your neck and kick it at your dorm-your own place-with your buds.

Me? I didn't look forward to it at all. When I got that college acceptance letter in the mail, I felt absolutely nothing. I wasn't excited at all. I should have noticed something was wrong then. I should have been able to connect the dots, but I pushed that thought aside and fell into the mold society had provided for me. College was the next step. After high school, people went to college. No gap year. This was just how it was.

So, I went to college.
I made wonderful friends and had a blast, but the whole time I was there, there was something missing. It was an issue that I could no longer ignore.

I looked around me and saw these friends of mine, having the time of their lives. Some knew what they were going to do with their lives. Others did not. But all were very much in tune with themselves. They exuded a sense of stability and self-awareness that I didn't possess. Not only that, but college meant something to these people. College was a step towards monetary success, an invaluable source of new knowledge, and path to new life experiences. This will sound strange, but I couldn't care less about these things. There was still something fundamentally missing. I just wouldn't be happy until I had figured it out.

And so, not being able to bear with such a feeling and not ever wanting my college experience to be one of aimless wandering, I took a year off to get some perspective- to find myself.

I know this all sounds very vague, and maybe, I'm not conveying this as well as I could have. But very simply put, I guess one could say that we are all lost at some point in our lives, but when we are lost, we usually have that one thing we hold on to. The one thing that steadies and guides us when we have forgotten the way ahead.

However, I seem to have been lost at sea without a compass for some time and have only just started to wonder where I am in this universe.

I must admit that the goal to find myself during my gap year is a bit ambitious, but if anything, this gap year will serve as a wonderful beginning to a renewed self, and this blog a wonderful way to convey that beginning.

-Robocop

p.s. Although this entry was a bit more serious, I hope this was better. There was a trade off, it seems. While making the entry less dramatic, I coincidentally made it terribly long. I also hope that things will become clearer for you guys as I write more.

Life Is Robocop

Why is my name Robocop?
My name was born under a series of unfortunate circumstances. A flow of events that began with the thoughts of finishing what was left of the precious liquid that had fueled memorable nights.

Although impulse was confronted by some form of hesitation, this pitiful attempt at self-restraint was very short-lived. Before anyone knew what was happening, eleven glasses had been poured and emptied- five for muffinman, five for emoinacloset, and one for dontscuffmyshoes-, and I had become the designated driver. As they began to succumb to the liquid's better effects, I reminded them that we still had to form nicknames for the four of us as a form of discretion. They started with mine. The only rule was that the name was to be agreed upon by everybody except the person being named.

Guided by their newly found creativity, muffin and emoinacloset fired away with names like "robotbuilder" and "robotbuilder101", alluding to the fact I attend MIT and, therefore, MUST build robots in my spare time.*

I thought this to be absolutely ridiculous, and I retorted with..
"If you're gonna call me that, you might as well call me Robocop."

And with that, I became Robocop.

Does the name refer to my appearance? Does it refer to my superior, computer-like sense of logic? Does it refer to my never-ending fight for justice? Does it describe anything real about me at all?

To the naysayers, I say that it represents a great night with great friends and great drinks. What could be better?

That's with this blog is about.

-Robocop

*I actually don't make robots in my spare time, but naturally, I have nothing against people who do.
